In order to get an LGV licence, you need to be at least 17 years of age and have a full manual driving licence with Category B. Once you have obtained your Category B licence, you must then complete an LGV medical examination, and then apply to the DVLA to add provisional entitlements to your licence for you to learn to drive LGV's (Large Goods Vehicle's). We suggest that when applying to the DVLA to add your LGV provisional entitlement (Category C & Category C+E), that you also apply for provisional entitlement for PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicles - Category D), as it is simply a case of ticking the box on the application form, and like the LGV provisional entitlement, is completely free of charge to apply for, and once added as a provisional entitlement to your licence, will remain there should you require it in the future with no need to re-apply.
Once you have passed your HGV medical exam, and obtained your provisional licence, you will then need to sit and pass your LGV/HGV theory test . Once you have passed your LG theory test, you can then book onto one of our LGV training courses, and look forward to receiving the best possible HGV training to help ensure you pass your LGV practical test first time.
